Learning how to identify, describe, research and value specialized object types is not an easy task. As you learn the underlying issues soon transfer to other personal property types subject the the same economic forces.
This website will briefly introduce specialized property types one at a time by providing links to museums, online resources, U-tube videos and published articles for free in this introductory website. The free introduction will prepare those interested in exploring, in greater depth and focus, advanced courses that will be offered for a low cost.
Each personal property valuation type has unique value characteristics. The personal property specialty list is long. Each property type is unique and challenging. You must first identify the object and the factors that impact the subject object's demand and value. Relevant factors include quality, materials used, condition, mark and supply/demand etc.
Each new course will be introduced on this website for free. We will provide specialized museum and Youtube links accompanied by an option to take an advanced related online course . The advanced specialized courses will make use of power points with explanatory recordings referenced to advanced specialized scholarly books and magazines, and supported by related photographs, exhibits, U-tube videos presented online at your pace and followed by live webinars as appropriate led by Bill Novotny and guest specialists. We will build advanced and indepth courses for selected property types and relevant valuation issues for anyone interested in the valuation and pricing of personal property. After the asynchronous narrative presentation is completed and published such as the soon to be released Abbreviated Appraisal Reports, and with sufficient interest, we will be offer live webinars regarding the identification, valuation and pricing of the object type which will be led by the Novotny or guest specialists.
We hope to engage all appraisers, collectors, dealers, auctioneers and anyone with an interest in understanding personal property valuation to subscribe below. We will add you to the ACA mailing list to inform you of each new course offering.
Attendees will learn the technologies and tools needed to produce the object historically, as well as geographic background, cultural and religious influences and provenance for starters. These factors change over time due to technological advances and economic influences.
